We all know that stress is an inevitable part of life, but there are some things you can do to help create a more stable mind-body balance.
Relaxation and Meditation - Meditation helps reduce stress, fear, worry and anxiety, conditions that are often the root of skin conditions. Focused breathing, mindfulness meditation, and relaxation techniques have been used successfully in a variety of skin issues. Therapy for some may be particularly helpful when trying to target specific emotional stresses.
Movement- Moving our bodies daily is so important for our mental health, strength, and for our skin. Exercising improves circulation, which helps nourish skin cells and keep them vital. It also allows the body to rid itself of waste, free radicals and in turn helps keep our skin clean from the inside.
Meals - Eating nutrient-dense whole foods that offer anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and low glycemic benefits, can boost your mood and skin. What you eat affects so many things in the body and will definitely be a topic in a later post.
This relationship of mind-skin connection is still developing and being learned, but understanding the little bit we do know can help us be more aware of how our mental and emotional health might be showing up on our skin and vice versa. By taking some time out for ourselves and our health, we can keep our mind clear and in turn help our skin.
