As fellow skincare enthusiasts, we are always looking into where things originated from. Jade facial rollers have been around for centuries; there’s evidence of them as far back as seventh-century China, where the stone was believed to have healing and protective properties.

Here’s what some of our favorite beauty gurus are saying about the jade roller:

“Like most beauty strategies that stand the test of time, the art is in a jade roller’s simplicity. The mechanism is downright basic: It features an oblong stone of pure jade, usually an inch to an inch and a half long, that’s attached to a handle with a metal frame, like a paint roller. Many versions are dual-ended, featuring a smaller stone on the opposite end for use on smaller areas, like around the eyes.” – FASHIONISTA.COM

“Our face, just like our bodies, can store excess water and be sluggish in the removal of toxins,” explains Dr. Lamees Hamdan, the founder of Shiffa, a luxury skincare line from Dubai. “Massaging the lymphatic system is key to helping our face move the excess water, which causes the puffiness. When lymph is flowing freely in the face, you’ll have clearer, healthier skin without a buildup of toxins and fluids.” - Town & Country Magazine

“Pfft—what difference can a little stone roller really make to the skincare routine I've so carefully crafted? I asked myself. The answer, as it turns out, is a hell of a lot.” - Byrdie

We started using the jade roller for ourselves and have to admit that there are significant benefits to using this daily.

  • Brighten complexion
  • Diminish appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Aids in relaxing the nervous system and relieves stress from the muscles in your face
  • Helps with the appearance of rosacea and other discolorations of the skin
  • Increase blood circulation
  • Assist lymphatic drainage

Sounds pretty good, right?

  • Apply your favorite serum or moisturizer (we prefer serum since it soaks into your skin a little quicker and offers an easy glide with the roller.
  • Roll the jade roller in an upward motion, working from your neck toward the forehead and including around your lips and in between your brows (those muscles get a lot of work)!
  • Use light pressure and if possible, roll at least 3x for the best results.

Pro tip: Keep it in the refrigerator to give your skin some help with puffiness. This is perfect for anyone that has issues with dark circles under their eyes. Wanna watch a pro? Check out Marianna Hewitt’s video.
